ABOUT LAWRENCE
Meet Larry
Larry Sprung is an award-winning Founder & Wealth Advisor based in Hauppauge, New York with 27 years of experience in the field.
I am a husband, father, entrepreneur, author, and mental health advocate.
I founded Mitlin Financial, Inc., in 2004 with a focus on prioritizing the families we serve.
The Mitlin team consistently helps those families make healthy financial decisions and offers an exceptional experience that leverages personalized service with today’s top tools and technology. We strive to help you achieve your goals while finding JOY in the journey!
What does “Mitlin” mean?
There’s an interesting story behind the name, and I think it helps to illustrate what Mitlin Financial is all about.
Mitlin Financial is named in memory of my wife’s grandfather, Mitchell, and my mother, Linda. My mom is more than just the “lin” in Mitlin – she is the reason I do what I do. As a teen, I watched my parents struggle with their finances as my mom battled breast cancer for more than a decade, and this became the driving force that led me on my journey to founding Mitlin Financial.
I was also inspired by the story of Mitchell, though I never met him. But I’ve heard countless stories about his giving nature and willingness to lend an open ear.
When I was forming Mitlin Financial, I thought a lot about these two people who, remarkably, passed away within hours of each other.
I feel that they embody so many of the qualities we want to have in our firm, and to this day, we keep their stories in mind and strive to bring the values they exhibited to everybody we work with.
You will feel like family in Mitlin’s offices as I am proud to be serving the second and third generations. I have seen first-hand how strong financial habits, instilled in parents, children, and grandchildren, can impact a family’s wealth and wealth stewardship for generations.
What do I do that brings me JOY?
Today, I champion Mitlin’s mission, inspiring our team to serve with purpose, passion, and JOY as we grow the practice and its impact.
As a Certified Exit Planning Advisor® (CEPA)*, I work with business owners to build more valuable companies while keeping their personal, financial, and business goals aligned. My goal is to empower entrepreneurs to enJOY the journey as they move toward their ideal version of tomorrow.
I am the author of the Amazon best-selling book “Financial Planning Made Personal: How to Create Joy and the Mindset for Success”, which aims to demystify and simplify the financial planning process and inspire people to take charge of their money and their JOY.
I share practical insights and inspiring stories on The JOYful Money Journey™ my signature YouTube series on the Larry Sprung CFP® YouTube Channel.
I also host the Mitlin Money Mindset® podcast, where I interview engaging and entertaining guests who share their insights and stories on cultivating a positive and productive relationship with money.
Additionally, I have been featured on many major news outlets including Yahoo! Finance, Forbes, Cheddar, and NYSE TV and I am a frequent speaker at industry conferences.
I am a huge ice hockey fan and still play, usually in charity games.
I value my family tremendously, and my desire to do right by my wife, Denise, and my sons drives who I am in and out of the office.
What do I do outside of work?
Outside the office, I am passionate about raising awareness for mental health. I spent more than 12 years on the National Board of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and sit on its financial and investment committees. With my wife, Denise, we have raised more than $1.7 million for the organization through the Keith Milano Memorial Fund. The fund was created at AFSP in memory of my brother-in-law
