ABOUT MATTHEW

After distinguished service in the U.S. Navy, Matt began helping individual investors at Merrill Lynch in 1999. Over time, especially during and after the 2008 financial collapse, Matt grew frustrated with how much of the financial industry seemed to prioritize profits over people. He believed those trusting him with their financial futures deserved better.

Matt saw that the traditional financial advisor and stockbroker model was losing its appeal — especially as information became more accessible and trust in Wall Street declined. He believes that real relationships aren’t built with fancy talk and expensive suits — they’re built with honesty, understanding, and reliability.

In 2018, Matt transitioned his practice to Raymond James and launched Signature Retirement Group. His goal was simple: to focus on building deeper relationships with individuals seeking specialized retirement guidance. With over 25 years of experience, Matt understands that retirement isn’t just about reaching a number — it’s about planning a life you’ve worked hard to enjoy. He is committed to being available whenever his clients need him — seven days a week for a phone call or a cup of coffee.

Matt earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business with a major in Accounting from Kansas State University. Before starting his career in financial services, he spent six years in the U.S. Navy, training with the Navy SEALs and providing protective services to dignitaries in Southern Europe.

Outside of work, Matt stays active in the community as a boxing coach and board member of Kansas City Golden Gloves. He still trains to compete as a master boxer himself.

Matt and his wife, Sohee, met during his time in the Navy while he was stationed in South Korea. They have been married since 1995 and live in Overland Park, Kansas, and have 2 sons, Brandon and Eric.
