SESSION OVERVIEW

The Exit Planning Summit features an assortment of session types to fully immerse advisors in exit planning content from industry experts, partners, and thought leaders.

Most CEPAs leave Summit with a stack of cards and no new referral relationships. The problem is not the room. It is that we treat networking as an exchange of information when it is really an exchange of risk. When someone refers to you, they hand over the keys to a relationship they spent years building, and they ride in the passenger seat the whole way. This is a working session, not a lecture. Across three timed rotations you will practice the three questions every referral source silently answers about you: are you worth meeting, are you worth buying from, and are you worth referring to? Between rotations, Mike Garrison teaches the language that moves a new contact from polite to productive, the give-first move that earns a second conversation, and the cadence that turns a Summit handshake into a working center of influence. You leave with named people, scheduled follow-ups, and a method you can run in any room, at any event, for the rest of your career.

  • Reframe a referral as a transfer of risk rather than a transfer of information, and identify why most conference networking produces contacts instead of referral partners.

  • Apply the Three Worths (worth meeting, worth buying from, worth referring to) as a live filter for evaluating potential referral partners and for understanding how you are being evaluated.

  • Practice the give-first opening and reciprocity sequence that converts a first conversation into a scheduled second one, without a transactional ask.

  • Build the follow-up cadence that turns a Summit introduction into an active center of influence within 90 days.

  • Leave the room with at least two named collaboration commitments and a written 30-day activation plan.
