SESSION OVERVIEW
The Exit Planning Summit features an assortment of session types to fully immerse advisors in exit planning content from industry experts, partners, and thought leaders.
Exit planning expertise has little value if the advisor cannot get the owner to engage.
The presentation becomes about activation: how you change the conversation from “Here are all the things you should do before selling your business” to asking questions that cause the owner to recognize the gap themselves.
That opens the door to several things you’ve developed particularly well: Socratic questioning, the Three Legs of the Stool, Wealth Gap, triggering events, Discover–Prepare–Decide, and the advisor as quarterback rather than pretending to be the expert in every discipline.
Neil McPeak Jr., CFP®, CEPA®, will share a practical field‑tested approach to help uncover priorities, identify triggering events, clarify the Wealth Gap, and move owners from discovery to preparation and decision‑making. Using real engagements, he’ll show how better questions, deeper listening, and coordinated advisory teamwork can elevate the planning process.
Attendees will leave with practical language, targeted questions, and a repeatable framework they can use immediately with business owners, clients, prospects, and centers of influence.
- Apply a repeatable framework for moving business owners from Discover → Prepare → Decide.
- Use better questions and active listening to uncover an owner’s personal, financial, and business priorities before proposing solutions.
- Identify triggering events, Wealth Gaps, and value-versus-income issues that can create urgency for exit planning.
- Translate technical CEPA knowledge into language that resonates with business owners and motivates action.
- Coordinate CPAs, attorneys, wealth advisors, valuation professionals, lenders, and other specialists as a synchronized advisory team
