Sessions Overview

The Exit Planning Summit features an assortment of session types to fully immerse advisors in exit planning content from industry experts, partners, and thought leaders.

Most exit planning conversations center on financial and operational readiness—but research shows that 75% of owners regret their exit, not because of the deal terms, but because their personal readiness was never addressed. True exit readiness is about more than preparing for a transaction; it’s about building a business that supports the life you want today, while laying the foundation for the chapter ahead.

In this session, our panel will reframe exit planning around personal freedom—the overlooked leg of the stool. We’ll explore why exits fail emotionally, the paradox of financial success that creates personal strain, and the hidden “centers of doubt” that undermine owner satisfaction. Most importantly, we’ll equip advisors with language, tools, and proven processes to guide owners in defining what they’re exiting to, not just what they’re exiting from.

Participants will leave with a practical framework to integrate personal planning into their advisory work, helping owners create companies that are more valuable, transferable, and enjoyable—and lives that are more significant and fulfilling.
